I also noticed: specular 4.0.9 has vc_templates folder the newest version 4.1.8 does not have vc_templates folder.
I made edits in vc_templates/staff.php before upgrading to specular 4.1.8
What should I do? 1) stay and stuck at 4.0.9 forever OR 2) enjoy future specular update, but unable to access/edit files in vc_templates.
