The dummy data import is a very simple process. You only need to click on the demo you want to import, and then the “Import” button.
What you are missing here are the basic customization you need to perform to have the exact view. Please go to your theme’s General Options and select a home page for your site.

what im trying to do is have all photos of finished jobs on front main page, that link to a description of that job. then id like 3 extra categories on the sub tool bar that links to a specific trade.. like kitchen and baths. kinda like you have it in demo. only difference is ill have more pics.
so the next thing would be is to learn how to add extra pics and descriptions. i figured thats how ill add content to for seo.

You can add more items for the front page at ‘Portfolio > New Item’ and posts for the blog page in ‘Posts > New Post’
I added back the portfolio item categories to show, in Portfolio Options > Portfolio Categories. I set it in fullwidth in Portfolio Options > Portfolio Layout. And lastly i set OFF the page header in page’s General Settings > Page Header Options > Active Page Header.
Now the front page is back as it was.

I saw you have setup the theme. I changed the header style (at the demo it is simple style without shadow).

yes. i would like the pictures linked like in demo. right now when you hover over them..( the link should pop up on the bottom) its in the middle.. and it s a dead page when you click it. thanks for the info.
is there a code i put in the button box so itll link to a call me feature, or should i go with a plugin.
I fixed the issue with the portfolio, I reset the permalinks.
What do you want to add at the bottom? You mean on the footer? Like a button or call to action element? At footer you can add widgets, add the one that fits better. If you want to add a button on footer you can use shortcode widget.
First go to a page (or create a new one) add the button using shortcodes. then copy the text and paste it at the shortcode widget on the footer.

Please make sure to have enough memory limit. You can increase it yourself by adding this line: define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '96M'); into your wp-config.php file or ask you host provider to do it for you. Then try to make the import again.
