The Visual Composer can’t be used in portfolio pages. You shouldn’t add text at the portfolio page, its used to show portfolio items.

If you want to add another content than the portfolio items then create a page and add the portfolio with Visual composer element. Also you can add the content you want with visual composer, but do not select the page template as ‘Portfolio Page’.
