Hi,
Since upgrading to Specular version 1.6 visual composer is hanging on me.
I’ve tried deactivating all my other plugins in case something was interfering, to no avail.
I’ve also tried updating the VC following the article here: https://support.codeless.co/knowledge-base/visual-composer-update/
I get a message to say there is a new version available: “There is a new version of WPBakery Visual Composer available. View version 4.11.2 details. Automatic update is unavailable for this plugin. To receive automatic updates license activation is required. Please visit settings to activate your Visual Composer. Got Visual Composer in theme?”
I am trying to launch a new webpage and I’ve managed to complete simple pages like blog + contacts without the visual composer but doing my homepage without this is impossible(with my skills!) so I really need to get this working again.

Please update theme to it’s latest version. Then follow these instructions to update Visual Composer from theme.
The latest theme release has Visual Composer 4.11.2 included.Best regards!

I resolved my issue myself so for anyone who is having the same problem heres what was wrong.
The envato marketplace plugin manages updates to the installed themes.
This plugin holds an API key. In my case the API key had somehow gotten corrupted so the updates were not happening.
I thought I was using the latest version of Specular and the only clue I could find that I wasn’t was the notification about the error message about the version of WP Bakery visual composer.
So after a LOT of time wasting I finally figured out that I should edit the settings for the envato marketplace, it picked up on the fact there was a newer version of Specular and after a small bit of additional messing I am up and running again.
Can I just say, I tried to find out what version of Specular was the latest and I could not find that information anywhere and had that information been available I would have solved my problem a lot sooner. The themeforest site has a release date but not a version number, the codeless.co website refers to version 1.4 so since I had 1.6 I clearly knew that was out of date. And the response(thank you for getting back to me so quickly!) says update to the latest version but doesnt say what version is the latest despite the fact I said I was on 1.6.
A small piece of extremely useful information, would have helped save a lot of time!
