What theme version do you have? What is your VC version? The latest Visual Composer version included in theme is 4.11.2.1.
You can use the existing version without any problem.It is fully compatible with the current theme version.
If you want to update to vs 4.12 before the next theme release, then you have to buy plugin yourself. But we thought that this isn’t needed because the version included works perfectly.
There isn’t scheduled an update for Tower theme just yet.

I am having many issues with VC and i wanted to try the update to see if any would be resolved. My issues are:

1. Tabs not working properly (in back-end, any additional tabs after the first one cannot be accessed to populate with content)
2. Accordion, i cannot assign a Section ID. When i try to assign one through Section Settings on the page the ID is not applied to the HTML of the site so i then cannot apply custom CSS.

All the included plugins, including Visual Composer have extended licenses.
The rules of the marketplace doesn’t allow us to give the plugin activation code. You can use the existing version without any problem. We update all theme plugins to their latest versions in every theme release or in case when an urgent update is needed. In order to keep them always fully compatible with the current theme version.
If you want to buy a license by yourself this is allowed, but we thought that this isn’t needed because the version included works perfectly.
You are free to make the choice that best fits your needs.

As i mentioned in my last reply, the latest included Visual Composer version is 4.11.2.1. Do you have this or an older version?

Thanks for your reply. I tried the instructions provided for updating VC but WordPress would not let me deactivate/uninstall because it was “in use”.

Instead i swtiched over to the Twentysixteen theme, removed Tower completely, donwloaded latest version and installed via FTP.
