How can I style the Slider Button, do I have to use inline css or is there another way?

What slider are you using? You can edit buttons class attributes via css. Just add the new code into your custom css box.

I am using the revolution slider. You mean the one for the theme or the one in the layer where the button goes?
You can select the style or the arrows at revolution slider settings -> Navigation. If you want different style, then you must style it your self by adding custom css code.
