I would also like to know how to update to the newest version of the Visual Editor.  I can not use the Frontend.  It won’t save any edits or changes.  The backend works, but not the front.

I would like to know this, too. Can I just buy the newest version and upgrade that way? Will anything bad happen if I do that?

Did you updated the theme? The vs 4.5.2 of Visual Composer is included in the latest update. Delete the current Visual Composer folder and go back to the dashboard to install it again.
