Hi, I have been asked to update a website for someone that was built using an early version of Specular (1.2.9). The website owner does not have access to Themeforest or any updates for the theme. I have noticed that Visual composer is not working (on back end or front end), so I have bought your theme today. What is the best way to update their website with the latest version of Specular without breaking the website please?
When I installed the new version of the theme, it broke the site?

we went through a similar upgrade recently… the only solution for us was upgrade everything, then fix what is broken

Thank you very much for get in touch. You have to be very careful in this whole process as your client is using version 1 while active stable release version is 3.4
So, to move it properly make sure you setup whole thing on your some other may be at local setup and make whole of your website from your main website content to your local website. Once all is done and you guys are happy to move live, just put your website live.
Note: Installing this latest theme without backup and standard procedures will hurt your website and all your website may broke. So, if you don’t know proper way hire some freelancer or hire our custom services so it’s totally up to you what you want to do ?

Thanks for the reply. I migrated the website to a test domain, which worked fine, and then updated your theme to the latest version (by installing it). This worked but wiped out almost all of the content on the website. When I go to edit a page, I no longer get an option near the top to edit with visual composer, but do get an option to edit with elector (but nothing happens when I click on that).
In menu>pages I can see an option to edit with visual composer (front end I assume) but when I click, it goes to the page but the visual composer logo just whirls without anything else happening?
I can also see a recommendation that the version of visual composer is currently 4.7.4 but needs to be updated to version 6.4.1 to work correctly. I cannot update the plugin myself without purchasing it?

We have updated wpbakery plugin with latest updates yesterday, so kindly download latest version of theme which is updated just yesterday and check again.

Sorry, I’m a bit confused by this. I have re-downloaded the theme and installed it. My theme is now showing as version 3.4.2 but in the required plugins, it is still showing that I am using visual composer version 4.7.4 and that I need to update to version 6.4.1
Shouldn’t the latest version be included with your latest update (3.4.2)?
Also I haven’t received any email notification that the theme was updated?

Hi,
Kindly make sure you delete old plugin and install again. Also to get updates for the theme update emails you have to make sure you select checkbox on your purchase page which states to get update notifications.
