I purchased Specular and Tower – I think I am going to use Tower.
I followed the directions to install the construction demo as my starting point, but after I do the restore. My site is not changing to match the look.
Please advise.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
I set up the demo for you.As you have clicked “Import dummy data” 8 times, you have the pages, menu items, posts, etc, multiplied. Just delete the unwanted ones.
I tried to set the main menu as main navigation menu, but it seems like you don’t have some permissions on host or don’t have enough memory.You can set is manually. Please edit the file ‘tower/includes/view/menu-fullwidth.php’.
Replace all it’s content with this code:

Just delete the repeated pages. Or Keep only the ones you need to edit.

I tried to install the dummy data after disactivating all the plugins, and it worked, but still there is an error after import:

Tried to set the main navigation but 500 Internal Server Error.
Please contact you host provider about the issue. Or replace again the WP and Theme’s files via FTP.

There are many reasons why the error 500 is displaying. It must be permission issue, missing file, memory limits, etc. Read more: https://support.codeless.co/knowledge-base/500-internal-server-error/
Try to contact the host provider, or I can give it a look, if you can give me your FTP credentials.

I setup the theme as the demo. You can do now the changes you want.
I couldn’t login to your FTP, but I didn’t see that error anymore.
The homepage don’t look exactly like the demo because you should add your own products and categories at Woocommerce.

Ok. I think I figured out what was going wrong.
I tried downloading on a windows machine. First, now I get everything packaged in a single zip file. And uploading it seems to be working a bit better.
On my mac, when I download the theme I get a folder (not a zip file) that I upload on my site using FTP. I think the problem lies there (either on your distribution or on mac compatibility).
Ruco, Could you please check and give me a solution that works for mac (that is what I will be using 99,99% of the time)

Hello max,
You must zip the folder ‘tower’ into the downloaded file from themeforest, or download only the installabe files (themeforest -> your account -> Downloads)
This is the file you should upload to themes.Or go to FTP account -> wp-content/themes/. Here upload ‘tower’ folder and replace it. (without zipping it).

That’s what I did. The only thing that differs between the successful and the unsuccessful uploads is using windows or OSX while doing it.

I have already managed to install it from a windows machine. The meaning of my question is, since I am using mac 99% of the time and I can guarantee you that downloading the folder to the FTP method is the only one available for a mac user and it doesn’t work as you could notice on my website, how should i do in future releases/updates?

Hello,
I imported the Construction demo data successfully. I imported the main slider and some of the images too. You can import other sliders from your downloadable main folder\sliders (themeforest-11941335-tower-businessdriven-multipurpose-wp-theme\sliders).
I setup the first main configurations, please continue with further customization.
As for the child theme, that comes included in main theme folder. When you install theme for the first time, it uploads child theme too. I already imported that too.Best regards!

Hello,
going back to the issue I had with downloading the theme zip file on mac, the issue I faced was due to the safe downloading option on safari >preference>general. you have to uncheck it in order to be able to download the zip file.
Hope this will save time for anybody facing the same issue i faced.
