The responsive layout is created for the specific devices. So it should look good in mobile and tablet. The desktop has a different layout in which it should look good. And that is the desktop layout.
Anyway, i suggest you refresh page even when resizing the browser tab in computer. I made all necessary tests from desktop and it has no problems.
This is definitely a server/database issue. Did you import the site from another domain?
You can use this plugin: Velvet blues update urls to change all urls in the database from the old one (assuming this is a transferred site).
Or just contact your host provider and let them know. They will help you with the server configurations.

The css i gave you is for the cases where all categories (or at least more than 1) are selected and then you hide the category corresponding to the number set inside :nth-child()

This is a portfolio item with slideshow and left side content. All the options to create this are in the single portfolio page options.
