You can add a background image on a column through
Edit page > Edit the column > Design Options > Background > Select an image > Save changes > Update > Done.

In order to register/de-register the Codeless Specular theme you’ve to go through
WP-Admin Dashboard > Specular Home > Specular Home > Enter your purchase code in the field > Click on Register theme button > Done.
