it seems to work now, so no idea what the issue was before. I’m thinking it might be a caching issue.
sorted, you will need to edit the Visual Composer settings. You can choose the content type that will allow VC Stuff.

Here is a screenshot of SOME of the JS files being loaded. There are a lot of duplicates and it just seems so excessive.
