A lot of Elements + Functions are gone since update to 4.x

  we’re updating a complete site and are trying to relaunch.
  
  The last days we stumble minutely about missing functions from WPBakery, Layers, … see our other issues.
  We must thank you that you’re working on each(!), but the issues are getting more and more.
  
  It seems like an extremely large number of functions of WPBakery (formerly VC) have been removed, which is also evident from the ../wp-content/plugins/specular-wpbakery-addons/includes/wpbakery-config.php file of the “new” plugin “Specular WPBakery Addons & Backward Compatibility”.
  
  There are countless elements here which have been disabled.
  Among them are unique and important functions like
  inner_row
  hover-boxes (was in Visual Composer)
  …
  
  It seems that these standard functions are placed in their own elements, but unfortunately only very rudimentary.
  The function “hover” has only a “flip” function, not the amount of functions we got in VisualComposer.
  
  It would be nice to know which functions are deleted from WPBakery and replaced by which codeless functions.
  
  In summary:
  – Which functions from the standard WPBakery have been removed?
  – What functions or elements from Codeless have they been replaced with?
  – Is “Specular” fully compatible with the WPBakery add-ons you can install from the – WordPress repository?
  – Is the theme really compatible with the important plugins like WPBakery and other content generators?
  
  Please do not misunderstand: We love SPECULAR but the default functions, default plugins and default elements should be supported and further changes should not be made in the plugin core but in the (child) theme. Otherwise the changes are gone with every update.
  
  Hope you can answer some of the questions (and thus for others) in detail.

  Hi,
  Some of the elements are disabled or removed due to security and compatibility concerns. In order to meet user-end requirements and to fill the vacant space, the Codeless Specular added all possible widgets in the theme you can check them by clicking on the Codeless Elements tab.
  
  It’s not possible also non-recommended to re-add the core functions of WP-Bakery back to your site as It’ll disturb the entire site functionality and layout.
  
  About the third-party plugins, we generally do not recommend them as some plugins have malicious code which may lead your site to anonymous status.
  
  We respect your time and your love for the Codeless themes.

  But which of them?
  
  As a user I’d like to know which plugins I can install and which not.
  
  The case is, that I bought WPBakery as a full license, but can not use the full stack because of the theme; and I should be able to add elements (from plugins) to get other functions, like hover functions.
  
  How can I help me out?

    I must be having similar problems with my Handel theme, I too bought the WPBakery license, at the insistence of the theme developer. They refused to update it for more than a year and I kept getting WordFence warnings all the time that I had a plugin that needed updating.
    
    This week the Kirki Developer Framework updated to 4.0.3 and 4.0.4, taking my whole website down. This is what Codeless uses. I deleted the new update and installed an older version to get back into my account but now the inside of my home page in the dashboard has lost all the WPBakery + Codeless Gutenberg blocks and contains a mess of html and ccs combined with all kinds of junk, numbers etc. There is no way to recover what I have using the blocks. Customizer allows a few changes but not enough to recover what was done in the dashboard.
    
    If this were just a for fun website I suppose I wouldn’t be quite so upset but this is for a paying customer who has specific government website guidelines that I must follow to be compliant.

    Hi,
    Dear Sir/Madam
    As I mentioned above, some of the WP-Bakery core features i.e. row equal height, etc. are disabled because of user-end site security and compatibility. These features are disabled keeping user-end requirements and smoothness in mind. As we advised previously, enabling disabled features or using a third-party addons plugin may lead your site to an anonymous situation.
    
    You can find the list of the params disabled in the “../wp-content/plugins/specular-wpbakery-addons/includes/wpbakery-config.php”
    
    We also mailed this issue to our developer team hope they’ll fix it in upcoming theme updates.

  I respect the individual change/adaption regarding the theme.
  But if using a standard page-builder like vc, now wpbakery, the standard functions should be there.

  were we’re not able to delete our own templates.
  This is an example of a dead lock situation due to missing standard functions.
  
  AND:
  If I understood you correctly, you claim that WPBakery functions are not secure or do not work correctly?
  That would further mean that all who use WPBakery are using an insecure system that does not work correctly?!
  If these do not work in conjunction with the theme, then I would like to know where the problems are here.
  A theme should provide a basic structure, provide templates, additional functions and elements if necessary, but not restrict to use other standard functions, so for example standard plugins.
  
  These facts are for many basic requirements to use a theme.

  Hi,
  any news on that? When willow get back the standard functions of WPBakery? A Theme should not deactivate them but support them to be sure of compatibility to essential plugins like site-builder, sliders and so on.

  The amount of time invested in building the site can be extensive. When plugins are not updated properly within a theme, it can and does crash a site. I complained endlessly about the Handel theme not updating WPBakery for over a year. WordFence notified me constantly that this plugin was insecure and needed to be updated. I would relay this information the the developer via theme forest. They said that it worked just fine with the older version. Eventually after several attempts to get them to update I purchased my own license but it was extremely difficult to install it with complications about the license activation. I even hired a developer to build me a child theme and install the new version. It all failed the day the Kirki Developer crashed the codeless sites by installing a new update. Now I can’t get the site back up to normal. All the WPBakery plus Codeless blocks that were developed are gone and are replaced with a mess of html code and css mixed in with junk. Customizer doesn’t work at all. Meanwhile I’ve been trying to rebuild locally using flywheel local and the WPBakery license I purchased and installed is supposed to let me use my license to receive the premium templates but it refuses to allow me to use my license on what it believes is another website, not the same website. Really, would they be so suspicious that they would suspect that everyone would take advantage of this mess to build a different site domain? This has been weeks of waiting.

  Please tell me where to open a new support ticket. So far I can not find it either here or in themeforest. It’s a great idea, and I wasted a lot of money to restart my support for Handel but there was no answer how to actually get a ticket started.

  Go to https://support.codeless.co/?post_type=forum –> login with your account –> choose a theme on the left hand –> go down –> fill in the form “Create New Topic”
  
  You must have logged in to see the form.
  
  Sometimes you’ve to remember them to answer, but most you’re receiving a quick (first) answer.
