I have updated Specular from a very old version (1.4.4) to the latest one. My site is now displaying a lot of visual composer tags, like these:
[vc_cta (etc.)
I can see the plugin “Specular WPBakery Addons & Backward Compatibility” was automatically installed and enabled. This plugin corrects many problems with old VC code but breaks some other codes.

Hi,
It’s because the code of some elements is modified and some elements are obsolete from the old version of the Codeless Specular theme.
We always recommend our valuable customers, keep the theme and theme-required plugins up-to-date. Also before updating theme and theme-required plugins keep a backup of the entire site.
As you’ve updated the theme from the very old version so, you’ve to build those specific elements again using the new WP-Bakery widgets. Thanks,

Hello,
Yes, I know that’s the reason, but I need a fix for the problem.
Let’s suppose I upgraded from 1.4.4 version by version until today. What would have happened with the design? Which version breaks the elements?
Can you send me a few older versions and I can do the upgrade process one by one? I do have backups of everything, of course.
Best regards,

Also, your plugin “Specular WPBakery Addons & Backward Compatibility” is responsible for breaking the CTA widgets, if I disable it they work. Can’t the plugin be fixed?

I’ve opened the plugin files and edited the wpbakery-config.php file and commented out the six lines that remove the Visual Composer Call-To-Action widget, for example:
vc_remove_element(“vc_cta_button”);
This has fixed my site. Nothing broken anymore.
Let me know if this can cause any problem and if this fix is permanent or there’s the risk that updates can overwrite it. Thanks!

Please send my lastest questions to the developer. I want to continue using the Visual Composer CTA widget that is being disabled by your plugin. Thanks.

Hi,
It’ll not cause any problem to your layout but have an impact on site performance and functionality. Moreover, It can be overwritten once the plugin is updated.Write down the changes you’ve made in a separate file, so if the plugin gets updated you’ll be able to make these again.
Thanks,
