Hello,
I’ve been working on building a new website with the Handel theme. The active theme on the website is the Handel Child theme. I’ve been using the included Visual Composer plugin to build the pages on the website.
I’ve noticed that whenever I go to Customize, whether through previewing the page, making changes to the theme options, or by choosing the Simple Page customization option on an individual page and saving any changes I make, that the shortcode for the Codeless Builder is being added to text blocks through Visual Composer at the beginning and end of each page. The shortcode: [cl_row][cl_column][cl_text] is at the top block and the shortcode: [/cl_text][/cl_column][/cl_row] is in the bottom block.
Is there a way to keep that shortcode from being added to Visual Composer? Each time that code is added I have delete it and then update the page because it messes with the layout of the pages.

Hello,
That’s because you are using the Codeless builder as well. To not add any cl shortcode, you have to use solely the Visual Composer builder. Go to your page and start adding elements from Visual Composer editor only.

Hi,
I understand that going into the Codeless Builder on the individual pages will bring up that shortcode since it’s going to the Codeless Builder. However, that is also the case when I go to the WordPress customize screen (from Apperance > Customize in the WordPress admin menu) like so:
If I go in and make a change to one of the theme options, like changing the logo in the header, after I save the change that shortcode is being added to the home page. Is there anything I can do to keep that Codeless Builder shortcode from being added after I save my changes through the customize screen?
I also noticed that after updating to WordPress 4.9 that when going to the customize screen that the Codeless Builder message that shows up as the customize options are being loaded just kept on spinning and would not load the customization options. Here’s a screenshot of the screen I’m referring to:
I had to revert back to WordPress 4.8.3 to get it working correctly again.

Hello,
Please update theme to fix the infinite loading spin. We have recently updated in order to be compatible with the latest WordPress version. Please make sure to update the builder plugin as well! Go to your wp-content/plugins folder, remove the current Codeless Builder plugin folder and then back in your dashboard, install it again from the Required plugins.
Theme’s main builder, is based on the WordPress Customizer. So when you open the Customizer from Appearances, you are actually accessing the Codeless Builder. That is why the shortcodes are being added. Because this theme’s building concept is the Codeless Builder, and Visual Composer is just an extra, but not the main tool.
I suggest you try to be more familiar with the builder first, as it will help you customize your site very easily. But if you must keep Visual Composer, then first set up the page options and settings using the Customizer, and then add the VC elements.
Best regards!
