Codeless Framework Plugin causes Critical Error

I received today an automated WordPress warning email that my website had experienced a critical error and sure enough my site was down (blank page). Using the recovery email I managed to get back in to the admin side and the problem was the Codeless Framework plugin which I was able to get working again by deactivating and reactivating. Unfortunately, my website is now displaying 404 errors for every page on the front end to my visitors. My website is running an older version of Specular v3.3.2 and WordPress v5.4.8. I then ran WP Staging to test the latest version of Specular and WordPress and now the site is a bit of a mess and does not look right.

If you view my site at http://www.ch-air.co.uk I’m sure you’ll see what I mean. My home page slider is not working either. Sidebars are not displaying correctly. The header contact details are not displaying correctly.

I don’t want to update Specular and WordPress on my live site if it makes the problem worse. Everything worked fine yesterday and no changes have been made to the site since March 2021. The only clue is the Codeless Framework issue.

      Hope you can help.

      Thanks,

      Adrian.

I just found out that WordPress v5.8.2 replaces widgets with Gutenberg blocks. I definitely don’t want this change and want to keep widgets as they are. Hopefully this is possible.

Yes, of course. It will take me a short while to find it as I have purchased quite a few Specular licences for my websites.

      Hi,
You can view your license key from
Log in to your Themeforest account > Click on the downloads tab > Click on the Specular file/link > Your license key will be visible there.
Your screen will probably look like this: https://imgur.com/6JpiUlM

      Thanks,

Yes, already looked there but the problem is I have 7 Specular licences and I’m not sure which one applies to this particular website.

      Hi,
Can you get back to the admin side using the recovery email?
      OR
Can you share the Cpanel credentials as I’m unable to make any changes on your site?

      Thanks,

Unfortunately, I don’t have cPanel for my website. I turned on WP_Debug and got this error when trying to view the website:

      Is this of any help?

Am now trying to think of how I can get back in to the admin end of the website – do you have any suggestions? I already tried disabling all plugins at once via FTP but it did not help.

Unfortunately I didn’t receive a recovery email for some reason. I usually do but not on this occasion.

      Hi,
Can you provide the PHPMyAdmin(database) access in any way? Because we’re completely unable to get into your site.

      Thanks,

Ok. I applied a backup from the 7th December and still the website is down. I hope you can help because I’m really stuck now.

I finally managed to gain access back to the website admin end so if you try it yourself it should work for you now. The website is now partially visible again but all the pages are missing, coming up instead with 404 errors.

        Hi,
Sorry for the inconvenience, but your site is again giving a critical error.
It looks like there’s some issue with the WordPress files.
Please try changing the WordPress file and then check if the problem still persists.

        Thanks,

How do I change the WordPress files please without affecting my website? Are you suggesting that all WordPress files should be replaced?

Are you still able to help Azam? My website has been down for 5 days now and I’m getting a bit desperate.

        Hi,
Can you please just share the backup files of your site so that I can test them on the localhost? Then we’ll not get in trouble of restoring the backup if unfortunately, something goes wrong again.

        Thanks,

Thank you so much for your help – much appreciated. Do you know what the reason for the problems were?

      • 3 years, 6 months ago azam

        Hi,
The only issue was the WordPress files were misbehaving. Now I have updated the WordPress files and everything seems to work fine. However, I have backed-up old WordPress files in a folder with the name Old Files. If you want to delete the go-ahead.

        Thanks,

Will the site update ok to Specular 4.2.2 without problems do you think?
