Hi,
Our site was running with specular for ~6 months with no problem. Due to the latest security issues we decided to upgrade the site to the latest version. We first updated wordpress to the latest version (4.1.3) and everything was OK. Then we replaced the “specular” folder (under wp-conten/themes) with the latest version. After this change, we got errors at the top of the screen and at the bottom of the screen:

Hello,
Please update Visual Composer too. Just go to your wp-content/plugins folder and delete the js_composer folder. Get back to dashboard and install plugin again.

Thanks. Can we do the installation by just copying the new js_composer folder to wp-content/plugins ? Does it matter if we do specular first and then js_composer or the other way around ? Thanks.

Hello,
Yes, you can just upload the js_composer folder into your wp-content/plugins folder, overwriting the current one. It is important to update both the theme and Visual Composer, the order does not matter.

Version in theme is 4.7.4 between in Envato store as 4.8.1
I try update Visual Composer following the guide but the version is 4.7.4 and this error remain

Hello,
Please delete your current wp-content/plugins/js_composer folder and go back to your dashboard. Install plugin again. The Visual Composer version included in theme package (4.7.4) is fully compatible with the latest theme version.

I can’t access your site. It says “Server error“.
Did you manage to solve your issue? I don’t see the WP Bakery plugin folder in your wp-content/plugins folder. Please install the included version for a proper function of the theme.

Since this is a topic that someone else started, you are not able to see admins private replies. Sorry for that. The text in private reply is this:
I turned off the debugging mode on wp-config file., the messages aren’t showing now.
There aren’t errors, but notices and don’t affect the theme or plugin functionality.

I made the following:
1. Moved to a temporary location the folders wp-content/plugins/js-composer And wp-content/themes/specular
2. Copied the new versions.
3. I got errors on WP.
4. Then, I simply deleted the “plugins/js-composer” directory and installed if from the wp-admin page. But still I got errors (please see below), so I had to revert back to using the old versions of specular and js-composer.
