Hi,
after updating specular theme on http://www.oltremateria.it the favicon is missing.
I checked the core-functions.php file as you suggested in other tickets and it seems correct: it contains already the following code:
<span style=”color: #4b4d4d; font-family: Inconsolata, Consolas, Monaco, ‘Lucida Console’, monospace; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre; background-color: #f9f9f9;”>/*——————— FAVICON ———————————————– */ if(!function_exists(‘codeless_favicon’)) { function codeless_favicon($url = “”) { $icon_link = “”; if($url) { $type = “image/x-icon”; if(strpos($url,’.png’ )) $type = “image/png”; if(strpos($url,’.gif’ )) $type = “image/gif”; $icon_link = ‘<link rel=”icon” href=”‘.$url.'” type=”‘.$type.'”>’; } return $icon_link; } } /*——————— End FAVICON ———————</span>
I also tried to upload a new favicon with a new name, in specular theme options, but no favicon is visible yet.
The site has a specular-child theme, I do not know if there is something to change in child-theme

Marco

Hello,
Is child theme active at the moment? Did you made any changes of code in the child theme? Please try activating parent theme and see if favicon shows up.
If it does, then another code in your child theme is changing it (taking priority).Let me know how it goes.
Best regards! -
Ok,
yes the site has a child theme. I tried to activate the main specular main theme but still the favicon doesn’t show.
I found that on IE the favicon is appearing, but only with this browser, while is still missinig on other browsers like chrome and firefox.
Do you see the favicon in your browser?
I checked the child theme but it seems that no function is influencing the favicon.
Any suggestions?

Marco

Hello,
Please try to delete the the lines below in header.php file:
<?php if (function_exists('codeless_favicon')) { echo codeless_favicon($cl_redata['favicon']['url']); } ?>
After that please check this article on how to add the favicon in the latest WordPress version:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_FaviconRegards!

Pardon me,
do you me header.php in spcular directory?
I see several header.php files in different directories:
\wp-content\themes\header.php
\wp-content\themes\specular\admin\templates
\wp-content\wp-includes\header.php

Hello,
Every change you do to theme, would be in files inside the specular theme folder. Not any other folder outside it. The file mentioned is located in
\wp-content\themes\specular\header.php.

Ok,
if I delete these lines in header.php , but in this case still there is no favicon appearing in chrome and then also in IE it disappeared.
So after deleting the code lines, I uploaded favicon.ico in root directory of the site and finally the favicon appears in chrome and IE.
I am not sure it is visible in firefox, could you please check in your browsers?
Regards
Marco
