Last thing I promise. Is it possible to have the copyright area at the bottom extend acrross the full row (i.e.. one widget instead of two widget areas).

By default, there is no such option for doing it. But I have done it through customization.
P.S Whenever you update the theme all changes will be gone, that’s why we generally don’t recommend customization.
