What theme version do you have? What version of Codeless Builder are you running? Please make sure to have the latest version installed. The last theme release was in 21 December 2017.

Theme update will replace all theme files. So if you have made any direct changes into theme files, these will be overwritten. A theme backup is advised if you did made changes. Else, there is no issue making the update.
All your options panel set up’s and customizations are saved in the database. So they will not be affected. Neither will the custom css code entered in the “Additional Css” menu box, as that as well is stored in the database.
I installed Handel-child and activated and it lost a ton of my formatting, so I reverted. Why would my formatting disappear? You said the custom CSS would still work. I would think it would especially work because I used a child theme.
I activated the codeless builder plugin and it still won’t load the customize area. Is there another way to access the Custom CSS area?
To change the color of all hyperlinks, add this code into Additional Css menu: a {color: #b79635 !important;}
Change the color to your wish.
There should not be any problem activating the child theme. Did you use the included child theme? Or did you create a new one? Can you please add some valid wp credentials in your profile data? So we can give it a closer look.
