I’m worried about updating my theme because at the time I didn’t know to use child. Am I going to lose my data upon updating the theme?

By the way, do I need to transfer my site over to a child theme? This update doesn’t affect me but you might do something in the future that will. If so, can you point me in the right direction and I’ll do that when I have time?
Yes the best option is to transfer the theme in a child theme so you can update it everytime you want without any problem.
