Hi,
I have upgrade to WP 5.1.1. Afterwards the site was looking as before but edit of pages did not work well.
Next step was to upgrade specular. I have manually moved the new specular to the theme directory and then from the dashboard installed all the required (pre-packaged) plugines. Afterwards, site looks very bad: it has a very different look, some content and graphics are gone, the main menu appears differently and does not have sub-menu etc.
So, I have manually moved the old specular version to the theme directory.
Now, the site looks normal and also I can edit the pages. But the problem is that I have an old version of specular with new version of plugins.
Could you please help me on this?
BTW, I have already purchased support and it did not expire but the icon in this forum says “Expired”, not sure why.

Thank you. No, we did not do any change to the theme files.
So, what is the current status? Are we running now the old theme or the new one?

Hello,
The issue that you have is caused by the old directory that you have changed. You have to upload the new update in the same folder of the old theme. So to update the theme you have to replace the old directory (specular) with the new version you will download from the themeforest.
This will maintain unchanged all your old settings.

Thank you for the feedback. This is exactly what I did the first time. I have replaced the entire specular directory with the new one that I have downloaded from themeforest. Afterwards, I have installed the pre-packaged plug-ins but the entire site appearance was changed and got corrupted.
BTW, I never changed the directory structure of specular.
Could you please advise how we can use the new specular theme?

As I wrote before, I NEVER touched the content of the specular directory. Every new version I simply replace the entire “specular” directory. This is the first time that this upgade process fails. What is your suggestion to solve this? Would you like me to extract information frorm the site (DB, files) so you can recreate the problem in your own environment ?

Hi, could you please let me know how we can debug and resolve the failure in upgrade? The upgrade process I am doing with every new version I to replace the entire “specular” directory and install the pre-packaged plugins. This upgrade process woked very well for years but this time this upgrade process fails. As this is a production site we should minimize downtime during weekdays. Could we extract the data so you can recreate the problem at the lab? I have a valid support agreement if this is not sufficient and you want me to purchase something else let me know.

I think that the update is completed now. Practically you haven’t installed Redux Framework that is apart from the theme in the latest version of Specular.
