  Yes, you can do it with some css. Add it into your custom css box.
  Sorry but these type of customizations are not included in theme support.

  Thx for the reply. Could you please explain how to use the shortcode for a photo that is in a page and not set as featured. It could give me an entry point to investigate how to do it for a featured one.

  You can use the shortcode for a photo that is not set as featured, just as a regular shortcode (screenshot). It is not possible to use that shortcode for featured image.
