I used the demo content and have replaced the photos with my own in a Gallery. When I’m in the customizer/visual editor, the photos open in a lightbox gallery just like in the demo.
But, when I’m simply viewing the page, the photos don’t open in a lightbox. Instead it just takes you to the full url of the image.

Can i see a link of the page where you have this? The portfolio items in homepage have a different style. They are not supposed to open featured image in light box but to send to the single portfolio item profile.
I changed it back to a gallery with no lightbox, because of the weirdness. But, I took screenshots before changing it back. Keep in mind, this only happens when viewing the site live and on laptop. Lightbox works perfect on mobile and in the editor.
When I have the lightbox setting on and when viewing site on laptop the image opens with lightbox controls, then immediately goes to the image link. The only way to get back to page is to double click “back” very quickly.
