I would like to use Tower on a live site (WP 4.9.4) currently using PressMate theme. Tower timed out on me several times when trying to upload the zip file, so I used FTP (Filezilla) to transfer the unzipped file (as well as the tower-child folder) and that seemed to go well. However, when I choose “Live Preview” (for either Tower or Tower Child) to see whether my site will be trashed or reasonably decent while transitioning, it’s just a blank gray screen on the right (with various customization toggles on the left as expected). Happy to tell you the URL in a private message.
I also uploaded Tower to my own server’s testing site (nearly blank in terms of content), and it both uploaded successfully and showed the preview successfully.
Did you install and activate the required plugins as well? Your current installation settings, where PressMate theme is installed, could be very different from Tower structure. Being unable to map the existing elements in the Tower structure, that preview shows up.
I suggest you build up a test site using Tower and then upload it online.
Thanks for your fast answer. That makes sense. I’ll see if I can export the current site’s content over to my test site (where Tower is already active) and see how it all looks! Good plan.
