The codeless sliders on my website have stopped working and I believe it’s due to the recent WordPress update to 5.5 as they were working fine on 5.4.2.
I notice that someone else is having similar problems.
Please can you look into it?
-
Yes, Sure! I can look.

Hi Azam,
Thank you for getting back to me. I’m reluctant to roll back to the previous version of WP as I did some work to the site, which will be lost.
Can you give me an estimated timescale? I’ll then decide what best to do.
Thanks,
Victoria
-
Victoria,
I know your concerns but I cant commit the time but its Top Priroty Task for our Development team, as soon I have news definately you will get an update. Thanks
-
Ok, understood, please let me know as soon as you have an update.
Also, you’re probably already aware that the update has also affected the drop downs in the top nav menus. These are no longer working.
Thanks.
-
Please check now and confirm. Let us know if you have any issue.
-
Hi Azam,
Thanks, the initial issues with the slider and nav now look to be sorted but other ones have now cropped up and the styling is a bit all over the place. I’ll try and sort them myself and will let you know if I have any issues.
Thanks,
Victoria
-
Hi Azam,
Looking through properly, there are actually a lot of additional issues and styling problems. So much so that it’ll save me much more time to roll back to pre WP 5.5 and re-do the changes I did the other day on the older version of WP. Previous issues that you guys had fixed (eg button on slider on hp and mobile view) have also come back.
Are you able to let me know once WP 5.5 is compatible with the theme and then I can do the WP update?
Thanks,
Victoria
-
Victoria,
Right Now, I will recomend you to roll back and tell me changes which we made are not there. Thanks,

Hi,
Please speak with GoDaddy Support, ask them last week Backup or last Good Backup, I am sure they must have it.Otherwise I have to Dig into deep for fix your website.
Thanks,
-
Hi Azam,
That’s what I was doing yesterday, speaking to GoDaddy support on and off for 6 hours. We tried a few different dates for installing the backup and every time the critical error message came up.
The problem remains that the theme is not compatible with WordPress 5.5.
Are you still updating/fixing the theme? You mentioned 5 days ago that your team were looking into the compatibility issue – where are you with that please?
Thanks
-
Hi,
please do the following:
Your Login Credentials is wrong.Have you update the theme? If not Please download lates theme, Remove all exsisting plug-in and update plugins and then let me know.
Thanks,
-

I’ve applied a temporary fix, which seems to be working (fingers crossed). I’ve enabled the jQuery Migrate Helper plugin. The sliders and menu drop downs seem to be working fine and all the styling is in order. I thought you might like to know as hopefully it will help others.
Please advise once the compatibility issue is sorted.
Thanks.

Hello,
I would like to update the Tower theme on my website to 2.9.1 and also disable the jQuery Migrate Helper plugin.
Please can you let me know if the compatibility issue with the latest version of WordPress (now 5.5.1) has now been resolved (and so I should be able to upgrade without any issues)?
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Victoria -
Victoria,
Are you facing currently any issue? If your site is working perfectly no Need to change, As we Planning for Tower Update. Thanks,
-
No significant issues with the website so can probably wait. What date is the Tower update planned for?
-
-
Hello,
I notice there is now another Tower Theme update: 2.9.2. Is this the update that will solve the compatibility issues with the latest version of WordPress (now 5.5.3)?
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Victoria

The compatibility issues between the Tower theme and WordPress 5.5, which came about 3 months ago. There were issues with the drop down menus, sliders and styling. Enabling the jQuery Migrate Helper plugin has given me a temporary fix for Tower 2.9 and I was advised by your support team to remain on this version of Tower until the compatibility issues between the theme and WordPress were rectified. So, I’m just trying to understand whether the compatibility issues have now been sorted so that I can update my theme (and remove the jQuery Migrate Helper plugin)?
Please let me know.
-
-
The plugin is only a temporary fix and I’ve recently been alerted as follows with regards to the jQuery migrate helper plugin:
‘Please note that this is a temporary solution which will only work between WordPress 5.5.0 and 5.6.0 is, and is not meant as a permanent fix for unsupported code.’
I have been advised a couple of times – 3 months ago and 1 month ago that you are working on the compatibility issues. Is this still the case? So please can you answer my question about whether the compatibility issues between the Tower theme and the latest version of WordPress have now been rectified?
-
Victoria,
You need to make clone of your website and give us access to that site and we will update the theme there and then what are things are change, we will update those things and you can replicate to production / live server after that. Thanks,
-
-
please update the theme as the latest version is available your are using 2.9 and latest is 2.9.1 Hope this will resolve the issues your are facing. Incase your did find any problem then let us know.
-
Hi Azam,
So I’ve just updated the theme to the latest version and it seems like the answer to my original question is NO, the theme is still not compatible with the latest version of WordPress. I have the same critical error message that I was getting over three months ago when I originally tried to do the update.
Please can you look into this using the access to my staging site that I’ve given you previously.
Thanks,
Victoria

Victoria,
Please share the screen shot of Error you are facing, I will get double check with Dev. Team – Thanks! -
I’m not sure how to share a screen shot via this system?
It’s all just copy anyway and says this:
There has been a critical error on your website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.
Learn more about debugging in WordPress.
NB: I’ve not had an email about it.

Hi,
Please use imgurl.com for upload and sending screen shot to us.Thanks,

Hi Azam,
It certainly looks a lot better than last time – thank you!
There are just a few things, which are actually mostly the custom changes I had previously asked you to do (on the homepage):Homepage –
* Banner image – ‘Get in touch’ button not working. Should link to: http://h9v.499.myftpupload.com/contact-me/
* Banner image – ‘Scroll down’ and the arrow need to be slightly higher up as currently not visible. ‘Scroll down’ wording should also be white. See the current homepage to see how it should look: https://victoriathomasmarketing.co.uk/
* The icons underneath the header ‘Digital Marketing Services’ should link through to the landing pages – the pages that the headers are linking through to.
* Remove the hyperlinks on the headings underneath ‘Why Me’ – I don’t have landing pages for those headers. All pages (excluding the homepage) –
* Remove the breadcrumb navigationBlogs –
* Remove hyperlinks from the H1 titlesThanks.
-
Hi,
When you ask me this type changes: All pages (excluding the homepage) โ
* Remove the breadcrumb navigation
when you will update theme and it will be gone. -
Hi,
Thank you for making the updates. There’s just one missing from the homepage:
* Remove the hyperlinks on the headings underneath โWhy Meโ โ I donโt have landing pages for those headers. You mentioned that the breadcrumb navigation will disappear when the theme is updated, however it looks like you(?) have updated the theme on this staging site to the latest version…. Is there something else I need to update?
Also, can I now disable the jQuery migrate helper plugin?
Let me know so that I can get the staging pushed to live and hopefully have a fully up-to-date and working website.
Thanks,
Victoria
-
we do customization in the code that is why we told you not to update or update after confirming these things are done in new update.
link has been removed.
-
Thank you for removing the hyperlinks. So apart from the breadcrumb navigation, the staging site looks fine.
What do I need to do now?
-
Hi,
Please dont update your website Theme, it has some customization and changes will be removed. Thanks,
-
So how do I resolve the problems on my website then please? I need to know the next steps please based on the changes you have made to the staging site.
-
Sorry, i didnt get you exactly.
You can migrat from Stagging to Live one. -
When I migrate from staging to production, presumably the breadcrumb navigation will still be there?
Also, can I disable the jQuery migrate helper plugin once I have migrated staging to production?
What will happen about future theme updates?
-
Victoria,
How you are planning to move / migrate your website?
Give me more details, perhaps I can give some tips / tricks make it smooth. Thanks,
-
I have my hosting with GoDaddy and will be syncing the sites – pushing staging to production.
Are you able to answer my questions please? I’m a little bit concerned about the continuing compatibility issues between WordPress and the Tower theme and do feel like my questions on this subject are being avoided. Are you planning on making the Tower theme compatible with the latest version of WordPress so that custom changes will not be required? I would be grateful if you could let me know so that I can consider the future of my website’s theme.
Thank you.
-
Victoria,
Latest theme is comptible with latest wp.
You can remove the jQuery Mirgrate helper.
What is latest tower version you are using? No worries.
Thanks,
-
Hello,
Thank you for answering my questions. I’ve pushed staging to production, disabled the jQuery Migrate helper plugin and the website looks to be ok at the moment.
The only outstanding issue is that the breadcrumb navigation is still there. Can I switch it off somewhere within the theme without breaking something else?
The version of Tower on the website is 2.9.4.Thanks
-
Victoria,
can you please share latest login credentials of live site. Thanks in advance. -
-
Victoria,
I have disabled breadcrumb navigation. Also you can do that from:
wp-admin > Tower > Header Options > Default Page Header > Active Page Header (On / Off)
Please check and let me know. Thanks,
-
Thank you, the disabled breadcrumb navigation now looks fine.
So, what happens now re the latest version of Tower and it’s compatibility with WordPress – can I now update it? The website is still on 2.9.4.
-
You are welcome!
Please pass this update, if you want to update plug-ins i can help you. Thanks,
-
So just to check I’m clear, I should not update my website to the latest version of Tower (2.9.6)? What will happen when future updates of the theme are rolled out – will I be able to update my website to those?
-
-
Which theme update will I be able to update to (which version)? And when will this version be rolled out?
-
Dont worry! i will inform you. hopefully 3.0 may be good update for you.
-
Hello,
We last spoke 8 months ago as I was having issues with the compatibility of my theme with wordpress (see above thread). I was advised that by version 3.0 my issues would be resolved but I see that you’ve been working your way up through version 2 so still my issues are there now 1 year down the line….
Can you advise what is happening please, or will I need to look for a new theme?
Victoria
-
Hi,
Please provide us the issues list so that we can solve those specifically on the theme that you’re using that means I’ll customize your theme and I’ll also make a record of those customizations for future use.P.S Also provide wp-admin info (Username – password), FTP info, and website URL and send me using private reply.
Thanks,
-

Hello,
Please can the theme on my website be updated to the latest version? My theme needs updating manually due to incompatibility issues (see above thread).
Thanks, Victoria

Hello,
Any update on this, please?
Thanks, Victoria
-
Hi,
I have checked dev team – They are still gathering data from forum and other platform – update is not ready yet!It may take a while.
Thanks,
-
Thank you for getting back to me. As you will see from this thread I have been waiting 1 year and 10 months for this theme to be compatible with the latest versions of WordPress. Can you provide (another) temporary fix to help me? For example, I would like to add a new post/blog to my website but I get the ‘there is a critical error on your website’ message. I get the same message if I want to update any of the pages on the website.
What do I need to do to get my website compatible with wordpress? -
-
-
-
Hi Azam,
I have not made or tried to make any changes to the site since I provided you with the login details earlier. I keep the plugins up-to-date but the theme is not automatically updated as it breaks the site (unless it is manually updated by you and your team).
Thanks,
Victoria -
