Specular Theme – JavaScript not working

Since March I believe the Google Analytics & Tag Manager stopped working on our websites. They’re both using the Salient theme (version 3.1) and I navigated to Specular > General Options > ‘Tracking Code / Custom CSS / Custom JS and installed the code there.

The Google Analytics code is correct as I put it on the homepage and tested. So the issue is that it doesn’t seem to be getting picked up when installed where I mentioned.

Can you please advise why this is not working?

      Hello,

Please can you try to remove the code from the Custom Js and after that you can place the new code from google and put it on header.php file.

      Let us know.

      Regards!

      Hi,

Would these changes be overwritten the next time I update the theme?

      Thanks.

      Hello,

Yes in the next update this changes will be overwritten.

You have to use a child theme to resolve this issue.

      Let us know.

      Regards!

      Hi,

Can you please advise when this issue will be fixed? None of my scripts are working anymore as they were a couple of months ago.  Having to create a new theme, edit code etc. is time-consuming and not ideal.

Could you please push this to the developers,

      Thanks.

      Hello,

You can simply copy header.php file from your parent theme folder into your child theme folder. Specular has included a child theme so you don’t have to create it. Just add the edited header.php file in it and activate it. so no matter how many times you update parent theme, the changes will not be lost.

      Best regards!
