too many installation issues

 Hi, I’m on my fourth attempt to install this theme on WP 5.0. Installation of the RevSlider fails every time, so I bought and installed that separately. Demo content did not install successfully, though, and now I when I do something as simple as try to create a menu, I get this error:
 
 _all(): Compilation failed: invalid range in character class at offset 11 in C:\xampp\htdocs\[redacted].com\wp-content\plugins\js_composer\include\autoload\hook-vc-grid.php on line 163
 
 This is turning into more trouble than it’s worth, but wanted to see if there was any easy fix before I pursue a refund.

 For clarity, that error is:

 Hello,
 
 This error is limited in your installation. It has not happened anywhere else, so we need to check this closely to understand what caused it.
 Did you install the included version of WP Bakery? What php version do you have installed in the server?
 If you can upload it online, send us some wp credentials so we can login and debug it.
 
 PS: Please know that theme is fully compatible with all included plugins, PHP 7+ and latest wordpress. It has been tested from our team and Envato team before launch.
