Hello,
I’m currently stuck on installing the default demo data for a client. They are wishing to move from their current site to using the default demo layout. I’m hoping to use the default demo as a template to see where to set-up everything. I’ve followed along with the video tutorial and can’t seem to get the demo content to upload or appear.
On Import/Export, I select the default demo option, select to import all data, check to import attachments and save the changes. Then I’ve tried both backup import options (Don’t import backup/Sat, 29th Nov 2014). Don’t import backup gets stuck at 30% and the Sat, 29th goes through. Then in General Options I set home to be the Frontpage. Nothing seems to change after reloading the site.
Please note that this site contains past data from the current site, including a page titled home. I am also using Theme Test Drive to preview the Specular theme so that their current site remains live and unchanged until necessary.
Any advice is appreciated. I can also send login info if needed.

First thing first:
The demo data includes the posts/pages/portfolio items and some other configuration settings (such as header type, blog style, default home page..etc). If you check to import attachment as well, it will add the images used in the online demo too. This is optional as it will increase significantly the size of data to import. Some shared hosts do not have enough memory and execution time limit to include the attachments too. However you can easily upload your own images, or just download the online demo’s.Secondly: Do you want to have just the default demo styling but keep the old pages and content? Or do you want to overwrite all of the old content and use only the default demo content?
