Visual Composer problems in WordPress 4.9.1

  The current version of Visual Composer (5.2) in the latest version of the Tower theme appears to be broken.
  
  Most of Visual Composer works fine, but in the Backend Editor I cannot save changes.
  
  This happens on a fresh install of WordPress as well as my existing site.
  
  Is there any manual fix I can perform?
