I have installed the Specular theme and am trying to edit it with Visual Composer. I would like to use one of their templates but the are unavailable to me without activating the plugin. All the support tickets and forums I read say you don’t need to activate the plugin but it’s not working for me. I deleted the VC plugin and re-installed it and same issue. How can I use all the functions of VC as it was a big reason I purchased this theme. Thank you.
All the included plugins, Visual Composer too, have extended licenses. This means they can be used by any one purchasing our theme as long as they use the version included in theme folder.
But there are limitations such as, you can not update plugin on your own terms with this type of licence. Also you can use all the VC elements to create template and add content to a page. To use the pre-build templates is needed the other type of license. The personal one, not extended.
The rules of the marketplace doesn’t allow us to give the plugin activation code. You can use the existing version without any problem. We update frequently all theme plugins to their latest versions in every theme release or in case when an urgent update is needed.
You are free to make the choice that best fits your needs.
I said I read the forums in hopes I wouldn’t get a canned response. I have seen this response before and it’s not helpful. It still doesn’t work. I uploaded the theme through an FTP (filezilla) by extracting the file I downloaded from theme forest and then uploading only the Specular folder into the proper location. So what’s my issue?
There is no issue. With the included version (this type of license) you can add/edit/remove Visual Composer elements into a page (screenshot). But not use the pre-build templates (screenshot).
