Please tell me where to open a new support ticket. So far I can not find it either here or in themeforest. It’s a great idea, and I wasted a lot of money to restart my support for Handel but there was no answer how to actually get a ticket started.
The amount of time invested in building the site can be extensive. When plugins are not updated properly within a theme, it can and does crash a site. I complained endlessly about the Handel theme not updating WPBakery for over a year. WordFence notified me constantly that this plugin was insecure and needed to be updated. I would relay this information the the developer via theme forest. They said that it worked just fine with the older version. Eventually after several attempts to get them to update I purchased my own license but it was extremely difficult to install it with complications about the license activation. I even hired a developer to build me a child theme and install the new version. It all failed the day the Kirki Developer crashed the codeless sites by installing a new update. Now I can’t get the site back up to normal. All the WPBakery plus Codeless blocks that were developed are gone and are replaced with a mess of html code and css mixed in with junk. Customizer doesn’t work at all. Meanwhile I’ve been trying to rebuild locally using flywheel local and the WPBakery license I purchased and installed is supposed to let me use my license to receive the premium templates but it refuses to allow me to use my license on what it believes is another website, not the same website. Really, would they be so suspicious that they would suspect that everyone would take advantage of this mess to build a different site domain? This has been weeks of waiting.
I must be having similar problems with my Handel theme, I too bought the WPBakery license, at the insistence of the theme developer. They refused to update it for more than a year and I kept getting WordFence warnings all the time that I had a plugin that needed updating.
This week the Kirki Developer Framework updated to 4.0.3 and 4.0.4, taking my whole website down. This is what Codeless uses. I deleted the new update and installed an older version to get back into my account but now the inside of my home page in the dashboard has lost all the WPBakery + Codeless Gutenberg blocks and contains a mess of html and ccs combined with all kinds of junk, numbers etc. There is no way to recover what I have using the blocks. Customizer allows a few changes but not enough to recover what was done in the dashboard.
If this were just a for fun website I suppose I wouldn’t be quite so upset but this is for a paying customer who has specific government website guidelines that I must follow to be compliant.
in reply to: Critical error on website (Handel Theme)Ok, I logged in and paid for a continuation of my support for Handel. You’ll have to explain to me HOW to get into the support ticket to actually fill out a request. When I click on Go To Item Support and it takes me to this page which has plenty of information about support but no link to start a Report Ticket. https://support.codeless.co/?envato_item_id=20506941
To set up a user account for a temporary login I need a name and email. I can do this as soon as you give me an idea where to get to the support ticket area.
in reply to: Critical error on website (Handel Theme)Thank you for this information! I believe I downloaded 3.1.8 before so I wasn’t too far off. I have “something” up for my client. This site is a licensed FEC advisor site so there are some regulations I must update and maintain.
My major problem remains. My home page in the dashboard edit screen is just a mess of code with other nonsensical junk, the WPBakery + Gutenberg blocks are all gone. I can only do so much with customizer and so now my site looks crooked with an empty right side bar that I can’t delete, either with customizer or the page editor. I am afraid to attempt to do anything with the page in the editor, thinking it will break what I already have. I’m clueless as to why the site is still working, partially.
I can use developer tools in google to view the html and CSS etc and have been able to fix a few things by just changing a margin to a ridiculously large value. But once the site is blown out, I won’t have this ability to replace the site the way it was.
If anyone could suggest a strategy to fix this I would appreciate it.
Thank you!in reply to: Critical error on website (Handel Theme)There has been a critical error in a file path in the Kirki Developer Framework plugin, resulting in crashing the site. Github has passed this on to Codeless who are supposed to be working on fixing this. Meanwhile if you want to get your Handel site back up, use your ftp or c-panel, get into your files and rename your plugins to plugin-old. Then you can log into your site. Reactivate one plugin at a time, but SKIP Kirki Developer Framework. Delete if it is ver 4.0 or 4.0.3. Search for this plugin on the internet and download any earlier version (anything 3.*) Download this and install it from your desktop to the dashboard. Turn off auto update. Don’t be surprised if your WPBakery needs a new version as well and that is an expensive update unless the developer decides to actually update it with their license. This is another problem with Handel, it wasn’t updated by the developer in Themeforest. So likely when you go into your page to edit you will no longer see the same results using WPBakery plus Gutenberg blocks, just a mess of a whole page of mucked up code. Using the customizer will allow some repairs but not everything.
in reply to: WP bakery update – vulnerability ExposesThank you responding about the update. I have a client who must be compliant with SEC website guidelines. This plugin update is critical for that reason.
in reply to: WP bakery update – vulnerability ExposesI have Handel and I also need the WPBakery Page Builder update. It’s part of my theme and should be updated via the developer license. This is an emergency as there has been a serious security risk with this plugin.
in reply to: Email link in top header not workingThank you for your continued support. The site has been finished enough for the deadline for the government’s SEC paperwork requirements but I would like to work further on customizing the website by adding a child theme. I have been following a Lynda.com tutorial to do this, added my own child theme, and I am at the point where he is writing the functions.php file to do this.
I had originally started my own occamchild theme and had been coding it along with the tutorial.
But then I noticed in my downloads from Codeless that there is an pre-made Handel Child theme. I’m working locally to develop so I have temporarily activated that your child theme to see how the functions.php file is the same as my own or different. I ran a test to make sure the handel child theme was activated by adding to the style.css code: change body to gray, that worked.
So the first change needed was I saw that the logo was Handel, not Occam. So I used customizer to change that to the Occam Logo (and in the process had to increase the size of the logo to my previous choice.) The logo change took effect and I do not see that added to my child style.css so I assume that even if the theme version is updated, this will not change?
Following the Lynda tutorial to continue setting up the functions.php file in child theme, the instructor adds more code below the get_stylesheet_directory>uri …. /style.css, to array(parent-style) wp_get_theme() arrowget(version). He says he does this do ensure that the version will always be checked against the style.css theme information to avoid caching issues when there is a theme number change. I do not see this call for the version in the handel-child theme below the enqueue_scripts for the child theme. Is this a necessary change I need to add? I also see that I may need to adjust the style.css to alter the Theme URI, the latest version (which is now 1.5.1) etc.
In other words, the handel-child theme functions.php looks very different from the tutorial I am following. Do I need to continue to add this additional information to the handel child functions.php for this to work or is it written properly for any future use?
Thank you.

I knew when I had originally entered this information it was done exactly this way. But for some reason each time after that I tried to go back and edit this again, it wasn’t showing up as available. In fact I was having trouble finding many of the edit points I had previously used.
I ended up doing a full reboot of my desktop and that was what was needed to get the customizer to begin working again. Lesson learned….
in reply to: Email link in top header not workingThank you for the quick service!
I am wondering how you accomplished this. I checked with web developer inspector and see that you first used the href mailto: but you also had to add a paragraph after this to actually get the text display of the href to work. You finally closed with the </a AFTER the span. It seems kind of clunky, but it works so I am not complaining.
Was there somewhere I could have done this myself that isn’t part of the customizer.?
I am also still trying to figure out how to style the a hover correctly. I added an a hover code into the Extra CSS that I found in one of the support questions on your forum but that is a general a hover not an an href hover style. You will notice this happening when hovering over the location, hours and phone in the header. There are no href links for these, though I may need to do that in future to link to a google map, google business page link and maybe even a smart phone link.
It must be in the css somewhere but I’ve yet to find it so I can add it to a child theme.
I’ve got another problem now with this top header. Now I need to change the hours of business to 8:30am to 4:30pm and I can no longer find where I made these changes! I’ve opened customizer a dozen times but these settings: address, email, hours and phone no long show up while I am in the customizer. I know these were set in an area called Icon, but I simply can’t find where I did this anymore! This is critical to change because my client is upset the wrong times are up there.
Thank you so much!
