Kindly make sure you use any translation plugin rather than playing with files directly. If you have specific reason to play with files directly let me know but it is not recommended way to go.

If those are not working then surely you should reach your plugins support to get those done. Because theme version 1 should not work with latest WordPress standards and if you want to keep older versions it will have such issues due to compatibility issues.

By now make sure to revert back to old version or backup content to put your website properly working.

As you are upgrading from an older version in the meantime WordPress has changed a lot so did our theme, make sure you go step by step to avoid those issues.

Or simply setup everything on other domain or at your local end once all is OK you can put your website live this way you can avoid issues on your live website.
